[And the variation]—meaning: And in the variation [of the night and the day, and what Allah sends down from the sky of provision]—meaning: rain, for in it is the provision of the creation—[and He gives life thereby to the earth after its death]—after it had been dry, containing no vegetation.
[And the directing]—meaning: the altering [of the winds] in mercy and in punishment—[are signs for a people who use their reason], and they are the believers.
﴿وَاخْتِلَاف﴾ أَي: وَفِي اخْتِلَاف ﴿اللَّيْلِ وَالنَّهَارِ وَمَا أَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ من رزق﴾ يَعْنِي: الْمَطَر فِيهِ أرزاق الْخلق ﴿فَأَحْيَا بِهِ الأَرْضَ بَعْدَ مَوْتِهَا﴾ بعد إِذْ كَانَت يابسة لَا نَبَات فِيهَا.
﴿وتصريف﴾ اي: وتلوين ﴿الرِّيَاح﴾ فِي الرَّحْمَة وَالْعَذَاب ﴿آيَاتٌ لِقَوْمٍ يعْقلُونَ﴾ وهم الْمُؤْمِنُونَ.
