[Say, (O Muhammad), to those who have believed that they (should) forgive those who do not look forward to the days of Allah]—meaning: the polytheists. Allah commanded the believers to forgive them [so that He may recompense a people for what they used to earn]—meaning: (what they) used to do. He will recompense the believers for their forbearance toward the polytheists, and He will recompense the polytheists for their polytheism. And it was
