His saying: "And when Our verses are recited to them as clear evidences" (45:25), meaning the Qur'an. "Their argument was nothing but that they said, 'Bring back our fathers'" (45:25), meaning: revive our fathers so that they may confirm your statement for you, by the fact that Allah gives life to the dead.
قَوْله: ﴿وَإِذَا تُتْلَى عَلَيْهِمْ آيَاتُنَا﴾ الْقُرْآن ﴿بَيِّنَاتٍ مَا كَانَ حُجَّتَهُمْ إِلا أَنْ قَالُوا ائْتُوا بِآبَائِنَا﴾ أحيوا آبَاءَنَا حَتَّى يصدقوكم بمقالتكم، بِأَن الله يحيي الْمَوْتَى،
