'Say, Have you considered if it is from Allah'—meaning: the Quran—'and you have disbelieved in it, while a witness from the Children of Israel has testified to the like of it'—meaning: to the like of the Quran, which is the Torah. Al-Hasan said: The witness means 'Abdullah ibn Salam—'and has believed while you have acted arrogantly. Indeed, Allah does not guide the wrongdoing people,' meaning: the polytheists; that is, those who meet Allah with their polytheism.
