His saying: "Indeed, those who say, 'Our Lord is Allah,' and then remain steadfast"—that is, steadfast upon that—"no fear will there be upon them," up to the end of the verse.
Yahya reported from Yunus ibn Ishaq, from Abu Ishaq, from [‘Amir] ibn Sa‘d al-Bajali, who said: "Abu Bakr al-Siddiq recited this verse, so they said: 'And what is steadfastness (istiqamah), O Caliph of the Messenger of Allah?' He replied: 'They did not associate partners with Allah.'"
قَوْله: ﴿إِنَّ الَّذِينَ قَالُوا رَبُّنَا الله ثمَّ استقاموا﴾ على ذَلِك ﴿فَلا خَوْفٌ عَلَيْهِمْ﴾ الْآيَةُ.
يَحْيَى: عَنْ يُونُسَ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ [عَامِرِ] بْنِ سَعْدٍ الْبَجَلِيِّ قَالَ: " قَرَأَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ الصِّدِّيقُ هَذِهِ الآيَةَ، فَقَالُوا: وَمَا الاسْتِقَامَةُ يَا خَلِيفَةَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ؟ قَالَ: لَمْ يشركوا ".
