Volume 4 · Page 814

Translation · EN

towards them with goodness. And "with hardship" (kurhan) is in the accusative case, meaning: His mother carried him with difficulty, and she gave birth to him with difficulty.

"Until, when he reaches his maturity" (ashuddahu), meaning: he reaches puberty, and some say: twenty years.

Muhammad said: It has been reported regarding "maturity" (al-ashudd) here that it is thirty-odd years, and this is the most common opinion.

His saying: "And reaches forty years," meaning: in his age. "He says, 'My Lord, enable me'" (awzi'ni), meaning: inspire me "to be grateful for Your favor" (up to the end of the verse).
