'So have patience, as the resolute among the messengers had patience.' The tafsir (exegesis) of al-Kalbi means: those among the messengers who were commanded to fight. 'And do not be impatient for them,' meaning: for the polytheists, regarding their punishment.
'As if, on the day they see what they are promised,' meaning: the punishment, 'they had not remained [in the world] save for an hour of a day. [This is] a proclamation,' (f. 326), 'so will any be destroyed,' after the proclamation, 'except the defiantly disobedient people?'—the polytheists.
﴿فاصبر كَمَا صَبر أولُوا الْعَزْم من الرُّسُل﴾ تَفْسِير الْكَلْبِيّ يَعْنِي: من أَمر بِالْقِتَالِ من الرُّسُل ﴿وَلا تَسْتَعْجِلْ لَهُم﴾ يَعْنِي: الْمُشْركين بِالْعَذَابِ.
﴿كَأَنَّهُمْ يَوْمَ يرَوْنَ مَا يوعدون﴾ يَعْنِي: الْعَذَاب ﴿لَمْ يَلْبَثُوا إِلا سَاعَة من نَهَار بَلَاغ﴾ [

] ﴿فَهَل يهْلك﴾ بعد الْبَلَاغ ﴿إِلا الْقَوْمُ الْفَاسِقُونَ﴾ الْمُشْركُونَ.
