{The likeness of Paradise}—meaning the description of Paradise—{is in it rivers of water, incorruptible}—meaning: not altered.
Muhammad said: It is said, 'asanal-ma'u' (the water became putrid), 'ya'sunu', 'usunan' and 'asnan'.
{And rivers of milk, the taste whereof does not change}—meaning: it did not emerge from the udders of livestock, and thus it does not change—{and rivers of wine, delicious to those who drink}.
Muhammad said: His saying: {delicious}—meaning: delightful. It is said, 'sharabun ladd' (delicious drink) if it is pleasant.
{And rivers of honey, purified}—it did not emerge from the bellies of bees—{and therein they have of all fruits} up to His saying: {and cut their bowels}. This is by way of an interrogative; he says: Are these the pious who were promised Paradise, in which is what was described, {like him who is immortal in the Fire} upon what was described?! Meaning: They are not the same.
