"If He were to ask you for it and press you," by asking for it, "you would be stingy," meaning: if He were to ask you for your wealth, you would be stingy with it, "and He would reveal your hidden malice," meaning your enmity.
﴿إِن يَسْئَلْكُمُوهَا فَيُحْفِكُمْ﴾ بِالْمَسْأَلَة ﴿تبخلوا﴾ أَي: لَو سألكم أَمْوَالكُم لبخلتم بهَا ﴿وَيخرج أضغانكم﴾ عداوتكم.
