‘And if those who disbelieve had fought you’ in that situation, ‘they would have turned their backs, then they would not find a protector’ to prevent them from that slaughter which the believers would inflict upon them, ‘nor a helper’ to support them.
﴿وَلَوْ قَاتَلَكُمُ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا﴾ فِي تِلْكَ الْحَال ﴿لَوَلَّوُا الأَدْبَارَ ثُمَّ لَا يَجِدُونَ وَلِيًّا﴾ يمنعهُم من ذَلِك الْقَتْل الَّذِي يقتلهُمْ الْمُؤْمِنُونَ ﴿وَلَا نَصِيرًا﴾ ينتصر لَهُم
