Muhammad said: Some scholars mentioned that the Arabs use the exception (istithna') in matters that are inevitable. Among this is the saying of Allah (glorified and exalted is He): "You will surely enter the Sacred Mosque." Thus, He resolved for them the entry, yet He made an exception within it.
Yahya said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) had made a peace treaty with the polytheists that he would return that year and come back the following year, and that he would stay in Mecca for three days. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) and his companions slaughtered their sacrificial animals (hady) at al-Hudaybiyyah, and they shaved and shortened their hair. Then, Allah caused him and his companions to enter Mecca the following year in safety, and they shaved and shortened their hair.
"And He knew what you did not know and has arranged before that a conquest near [at hand]" (referring to) the conquest of Khaybar.
قَالَ محمدٌ: ذكر بعض الْعلمَاء أَن الْعَرَب تستثني فِي الْأَمر الَّذِي لَا بُدَّ مِنْهُ، وَمِنْه قَول اللَّه ﷿: ﴿لَتَدْخُلُنَّ الْمَسْجِد الْحَرَام﴾ فعزم لَهُم بِالدُّخُولِ، وَاسْتثنى فِيهِ.
قَالَ يحيى: وَكَانَ رَسُول الله صَالح الْمُشْركين على أَن يرجع عَامه ذَلِك، وَيرجع من قَابل، وَيُقِيم بِمَكَّة ثَلَاثَة أَيَّام، فَنحر رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ وَأَصْحَابه الْهَدْي بالحُدَيبية، وحلقوا وَقصرُوا ثمَّ أدخلهُ اللَّه الْعَام الْمقبل مَكَّة وَأَصْحَابه آمِنين فحلقوا وَقصرُوا.
﴿فَعَلِمَ مَا لَمْ تَعْلَمُوا فَجَعَلَ مِنْ دُونِ ذَلِكَ فَتْحًا قَرِيبا﴾ فتح خَيْبَر.
