"And know that among you is the Messenger of Allah," residing among you; therefore, you will not go astray as long as you accept from him. "If he were to obey you in much of the matter, you would suffer," meaning: in your religion. Al-'anatu (suffering) is hardship and distress. "But Allah has endeared to you the faith and has made it pleasing in your hearts," through what He has promised you of reward for it. "And has made hateful to you disbelief and disobedience," for disobedience and sin are the same. "Those are the rightly guided," those to whom faith has been endeared.
