Translation · EN

"And his companion said," who is the angel who was writing his deeds, "This is what is with me," meaning: in my possession, "'Atid" (ready), meaning: present; that is: what was written against him.

Muhammad said: It is permissible to use the nominative case for "'Atid" in the sense of "He is 'Atid" (He is ready).

﴿وَقَالَ قرينه﴾ هُوَ الْملك الَّذِي كَانَ يكْتب عمله ﴿هَذَا مَا لدي﴾ أَي: عِنْدِي ﴿عتيد﴾ أَي: حَاضر؛ يَعْنِي: مَا كتب عَلَيْهِ.

قَالَ مُحَمَّد: (عتيد) يجوز الرّفْع فِيهِ بِمَعْنى هُوَ عتيد.
