Tafsir al-Qur'an al-'Aziz by Ibn Abi Zamanin
Volume 5 · Page 104Al-Haqqah

Translation · EN

His saying: "The Inevitable Reality! What is the Inevitable Reality? And what can make you know what the Inevitable Reality is?" (69:1-3) means: You did not know what the Inevitable Reality was until I informed you of it. The "Inevitable Reality" (Al-Haqqah) is one of the names of the Day of Resurrection, for it has confirmed (ahaqqat) Paradise for some people and confirmed (ahaqqat) the Fire for others.

Yahya said: It has reached me that everything in the Quran containing "And what can make you know" (wa ma adraka) means He has made him know it, and everything containing "And what makes you know" (wa ma yudrika) refers to something He has not yet informed him of.

Muhammad said: His saying "The Inevitable Reality! What is the Inevitable Reality?" utilizes the language of interrogation, yet the meaning is the magnification of its status, just as one might say "So-and-so, what is So-and-so!"
