Translation · EN

"So they disobeyed the messenger of their Lord," meaning every people disobeyed the messenger of their Lord who was sent to them. "So He seized them with a mounting seizure," meaning intense, according to the exegesis of Mujahid.

Muhammad said: "Mounting" (rabiyah) means: it exceeds other seizures; and this is the meaning of the statement of Mujahid.

﴿فعصوا رَسُول رَبهم﴾ عَصَى كُلُّ قَوْمٍ رَسُولَ رَبِّهِمُ الَّذِي أُرْسِلَ إِلَيْهِمْ ﴿فَأَخَذَهُمْ أَخْذَةً رابية﴾ شَدِيدَةً، فِي تَفْسِيرِ مُجَاهِدٍ.

قَالَ محمدٌ: (رابية) الْمَعْنَى: تَزِيدُ عَلَى الْأَخَذَاتِ؛ وَهُوَ معنى قَول مُجَاهِد.
