"Then into a chain whose length is seventy cubits, bind him" (thumma fi silsilatin dhar'uha sab'una dhira'an). Allah knows best which cubit is meant. "Bind him" (faslukuhu) means he is bound in it; it enters through his mouth until it exits from his posterior. If one link of it were placed upon a mountain, it would melt. He will then call out to his companions: 'Do you recognize me?' They will reply: 'No, but we see the ignominy that has befallen you, so who are you?' He will say: 'I am so-and-so, son of so-and-so; indeed, every one of you has the likes of this.'
