Tafsir al-Qur'an al-'Aziz by Ibn Abi Zamanin
Volume 5 · Page 29933

Translation · EN

And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except Him.

"And it is not but a reminder to humanity"—this refers back to His saying: "I will drive him into Saqar. And what can make you know what is Saqar?"

"Nay, and by the moon."

"And by the night when it departs"—meaning when it turns away. Some of them recite: "When it departs," meaning when it turns away.

Muhammad said: It is said: The night 'dabara' and 'adbara' [departed], just as you say: 'Qabala' and 'aqbala' [approached]. It is also said: "So-and-so 'dabarani' and 'khalafani'"—meaning when he comes after me.

"And by the morning when it shines."
