Tafsir al-Qur'an al-'Aziz by Ibn Abi Zamanin
Volume 5 · Page 3658

Translation · EN

"[And they give food, in spite of love for it] meaning: despite their need for it, [to the needy, the orphan, and the captive] meaning: the captive from among the polytheists. [The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to hand over a captive to a man and say: Keep this one with you. He would be with him for a night or two, and they used to prefer those captives over themselves, so Allah praised them for that]."
