His statement: "Say," O Muhammad, "Have you considered: whether Allah destroys me and those with me" from among the believers, "or has mercy upon us, then who can protect"—meaning, who can prevent—"the disbelievers?" That is, there is no protector for them to prevent them from the punishment of Allah.
قَوْله: ﴿قل﴾ يَا مُحَمَّدُ ﴿أَرَأَيْتُمْ إِنْ أَهْلَكَنِيَ الله وَمن معي﴾ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ﴿أَوْ رَحِمَنَا فَمَنْ يجير﴾ أَي: يمْنَع ﴿الْكَافرين﴾ أَيْ: لَيْسَ لَهُمْ مُجيرٌ يَمْنَعُهُمْ من عَذَاب الله
