Regarding His saying: "And when the mountains are set in motion," it means they will depart and transition through various states. Initially, they will be transformed from the nature of stone into a heap of sand, then into carded wool, then into scattered dust, and finally into a mirage; like this mirage which one sees, yet it is nothing in reality.
﴿وَإِذا الْجبَال سيرت﴾ تَذْهَبُ تَصِيرُ فِي حَالاتٍ أَمَّا أَوَّلُ مَا تُحوَّلُ عَنْ مَنْزِلَةِ الْحِجَارَةِ، فَتَكُونُ كَثِيبًا، وَتَكُونُ كَالْعِهْنِ الْمَنْفُوشِ، وَتَكُونُ هَبَاءً مُنْبَثًّا، وَتَكُونُ سَرَابًا؛ مِثْلُ هَذَا السَّرَابِ تَرَاهُ وَلَيْسَ بِشَيْء.
