Tafsir al-Qur'an al-'Aziz by Ibn Abi Zamanin
Volume 5 · Page 61314

Translation · EN

"No! Rather, the stain has covered their hearts" [83:14]. Al-Kalbi said: It means, a seal has been placed upon their hearts because of "what they used to earn."

Muhammad [Ibn Abi Zamanin] said: The singular of "asatir" (legends) is "usturah," similar to "uhduthah" (tale) and "ahadith" (stories). The meaning of "kalla" (No!) according to the linguists is a rebuke and a warning. And "rana" (stain/cover) means to cover; it is said: "The sin has covered his heart, it covers it, a covering (rayn)."
