[They are] "upon adorned couches, observing" [83:23]. The "adorned couches" (al-ara'ik) are beds within canopies. Mujahid said: They are beds made of pearl and jacinth.
﴿على الأرائك ينظرُونَ﴾ الْأَرَائِكُ السُّرُرُ فِي الْحِجَالِ، قَالَ مُجَاهِدٌ: وَهِيَ سُرُرٌ مِنْ لُؤْلُؤٍ وَيَاقُوت.
