Allah says: "And they were not sent as guardians over them," meaning they are not appointed to oversee their deeds, referring to the polytheists.
قَالَ اللَّهُ: ﴿وَمَا أُرْسِلُوا عَلَيْهِمْ حافظين﴾ يحفظون أَعْمَالهم يَعْنِي: الْمُشْركين
