Tafsir al-Qur'an al-'Aziz by Ibn Abi Zamanin
Volume 5 · Page 64

Translation · EN

Muhammad said: It is also said that the 'zanim' is the one known for evil, just as a sheep is known by its 'zanima' (ear-notch or tag); it is said: a 'zanima' sheep, referring to what hangs at the throats of goats. The 'utul', according to the scholars of the language, is the rude and callous person. And Allah knows best.
