"And a witness" (wa shahid), meaning: Friday, "and a witnessed day" (wa mashhud), meaning: the Day of 'Arafah. This is the interpretation of al-Hasan, and he narrated it from the Prophet (may Allah bless him and grant him peace). His saying:
﴿وَشَاهد﴾ يَعْنِي: يَوْم الْجُمُعَة ﴿ومشهود﴾ يَعْنِي: يَوْمَ عَرَفَةَ، هَذَا تَفْسِيرُ الْحسن، وَرَوَاهُ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ [ﷺ]. قَوْله:
