Translation · EN

{Indeed, those who have tortured the believing men and believing women} means: He burned them with fire, according to the Tafsir of al-Suddi.

Muhammad said: It is said, 'I have fatan (tortured/burned) the thing,' meaning I burned it. 'Al-Fatin' are black stones as if they were burned. (Interpretation of Surah al-Buruj from verse 11 to 22)

﴿إِنَّ الَّذِينَ فَتَنُوا الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَالْمُؤْمِنَاتِ﴾ يَعْنِي: أحرقهم بوالنار، فِي تَفْسِيرِ السُّدِّيِّ.

قَالَ مُحَمَّدٌ: يُقَالُ فَتَنْتُ الشَّيْءَ أَحْرَقْتُهُ، وَالْفَتِينُ حِجَارَة سود كَأَنَّهَا محرقة. تَفْسِير سُورَة البروج من آيَة ١١ - ٢٢
