{Lord of the Throne}, the Lord of the Throne. {The Glorious} - It is recited as (al-Majidu) in the nominative case and (al-Majidi) in the genitive case. Whoever recites it in the nominative case refers it to His saying: {And He is the All-Forgiving, the Loving}, the Glorious, Lord of the Throne. Whoever recites it in the genitive case makes it an attribute of (the Throne). The interpretation of al-Majid: the Generous.
﴿ذُو الْعَرْش﴾ رب الْعَرْش ﴿الْمجِيد﴾ يقْرَأ (الْمجِيد) بِالرَّفْعِ وَالْجَرِّ، فَمَنْ قَرَأَ بِالرَّفْعِ رَجَعَ إِلَى قَوْلِهِ: ﴿وَهُوَ الْغَفُورُ الْوَدُود﴾ الْمَجِيدُ ذُو الْعَرْشِ، وَمَنْ قَرَأَهَا بِالْجَرِّ جَعَلَهُ مِنْ صِفَةِ (الْعَرْشِ) وَتَفْسِير الْمجِيد: الْكَرِيم.
