"As for the human being," and he is the polytheist, "when his Lord tests him and honors him and blesses him," meaning: He expands for him the provisions of this world, "he says, 'My Lord has honored me,'" meaning: He has favored me.
﴿فَأَما الْإِنْسَان﴾ وَهُوَ الْمُشْرِكُ ﴿إِذَا مَا ابْتَلاهُ ربه فَأكْرمه ونعمه﴾ أَيْ: وَسَّعَ عَلَيْهِ مِنَ الدُّنْيَا ﴿فَيَقُول رَبِّي أكرمن﴾ أَي: فضلني
