And His saying: "And Hell will be brought near that Day."

Yahya [narrated] from Aban ibn Abi Ayyash, from Abu al-Aliyah, from Ubayy ibn Ka'b who said: "The Lord will come on the Day of Resurrection among the angels of the seventh heaven, and they are the Cherubim, whose number no one knows but Allah. Then Paradise will be brought with its gates opened, seen by every righteous and wicked person, with the angels of mercy upon it, until it is placed to the right of the Throne, and its fragrance will be detected from a distance of five hundred years' journey." He said: "And the Fire will be brought, led by seventy thousand bridles; upon each bridle are seventy thousand angels. Its gates are locked, and upon it are black angels with them are long chains, heavy shackles, garments of tar, and garments of fire. Their eyes have a gleam like lightning, and their faces have a flame like fire. Their eyes are fixed; they do not look at the Possessor of the Throne out of veneration for Him. So when the Fire is brought near, and there is between it and the creatures a distance of five hundred years' journey, it will heave a heave; no one will remain except that they will fall upon their knees, and trembling will seize them, and their hearts will become suspended in their throats, neither coming out nor returning to their places. That is the meaning of His saying: 'When the hearts are at the throats, suppressing [their grief].'"
