"And to your Lord, direct [your] longing," meaning: supplicate humbly.
Muhammad said: Regarding His saying: "For indeed, with hardship [comes] ease," He mentioned the hardship with the alif and lam (the definite article), then repeated the mention of it; thus the meaning becomes: Indeed, with one hardship come two eases.
﴿وَإِلَى رَبك فارغب﴾ تَضَرَّعْ.
قَالَ مُحَمَّدٌ: قَوْلُهُ: ﴿فَإِنَّ مَعَ الْعسر يسرا﴾ فَذَكَرَ الْعُسْرَ مَعَ الْأَلِفِ وَاللَّامِ، ثُمَّ ثَنَّى ذِكْرَهُ، فَصَارَ الْمَعْنَى: إِنَّ مَعَ الْعُسْرِ يُسْرَيْنِ.
