"Ask them, 'Which of them will guarantee that for them?'"—meaning, a guarantor who will guarantee for them on Our behalf that they shall have what they judge for themselves on the Day of Resurrection. This is in reference to the statement of one of them: "And if I should be returned to my Lord, indeed, I will have with Him the best [reward]" (1)—referring to Paradise, if indeed there is a Paradise.
﴿سلهم أَيهمْ بذلك زعيم﴾ حَمِيلٌ يَحْمِلُ عَنَّا لَهُمْ بِأَنَّ لَهُمْ مَا يَحْكُمُونَ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ لِأَنْفُسِهِمْ؛ هَذَا لِقَوْلِ أَحَدِهِمْ: ﴿وَلَئِنْ رُجِعْتُ إِلَى رَبِّي إِنَّ لِي عِنْده للحسنى﴾ (١) للجنّة إِن كَانَت جنَّة
