577 - My father narrated to us, Abu Ghassan Malik ibn Isma'il narrated to us, Zuhayr narrated to us, he said: Khusayf was asked about the saying of Allah: "And enter the gate bowing." 'Ikrimah said: Ibn 'Abbas said: So they entered sideways.

578 - My father narrated to us, Ahmad ibn 'Abd al-Rahman narrated to us, 'Abd Allah ibn Abi Ja'far narrated to us, from his father, from al-Rabi' ibn Anas regarding His saying: "Bowing," he said: And the bowing of one of them was upon his cheek.

579 - My father narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Muqatil narrated to us, Waki' narrated to us, from Sufyan, from al-Suddi, from Abu Sa'id al-Azdi, from Abu al-Kanud, from 'Abd Allah ibn Mas'ud, he said: It was said to them: "Enter the gate bowing," so they entered with their heads raised.

Abu Muhammad said: The Tabi'un disagreed. It was narrated from Mujahid something similar to the saying of 'Ikrimah from Ibn 'Abbas, and it was narrated from al-Suddi something similar to what was narrated from Ibn Mas'ud.

580 - Abu Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Yahya ibn Sa'id al-Qattan narrated to us, Yahya ibn Adam narrated to us, Sufyan narrated to us, from al-A'mash, from al-Minhal, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: "And say, 'Hittah' (Repentance)," he said: Forgiveness; seek forgiveness. Abu Muhammad said: Something similar to that was narrated from 'Ata', al-Hasan, Qatadah, and al-Rabi' ibn Anas.

581 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Minjab ibn al-Harith narrated to us, Bishr informed us, from Abu Rawq, from al-Dahhak, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: "And say, 'Hittah' (Repentance)," he said: Say, "This matter is true," just as you were told.

And a third opinion was narrated from 'Ikrimah.

582 - Abu 'Abd Allah al-Tahrani narrated to us, Hafs ibn 'Umar al-'Adani narrated to us, al-Hakam ibn Aban narrated to us, from 'Ikrimah regarding His saying: "And say, 'Hittah' (Repentance)," he says: Say, "There is no god but Allah."

583 - My father narrated to us, Mahmud ibn Khalid al-Dimashqi narrated to us, 'Umar ibn 'Abd al-Wahid narrated to us, he said: I heard al-Awza'i narrating, he said: Ibn 'Abbas wrote to a man whom he named, asking him about His saying: "And say, 'Hittah' (Repentance)," so he wrote to him: That you should admit to the sin.
