His saying: They said, "Call upon your Lord to make clear to us what it is."
693 - With the same chain from al-Suddi, he said: Ibn Abbas said to me: "Had they haggled for any cow and slaughtered it, it would have sufficed them, but they made it difficult and behaved obstinately toward Moses, so Allah made it difficult for them. They said: 'Call upon your Lord to make clear to us what it is.'"
His saying: He says, "Indeed, it is a cow which is neither Fard (old) nor Bikr (young/virgin)."
[The First Aspect]
694 - My father narrated to us, Ibrahim ibn Musa narrated to us, Hisham ibn Yusuf reported from Ibn Jurayj from 'Ata' from Ibn Abbas regarding "neither Fard": He said: "The Fard is the aged/old one." Abu Muhammad said: It has been narrated from Abu al-'Aliyah, al-Hasan, 'Atiyah, 'Ikrimah, 'Ata' al-Khurasani, Qatadah, al-Rabi' ibn Anas, Wahb ibn Munabbih, al-Suddi, and al-Dahhak something similar to that.
[The Second Aspect]
695 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashaj narrated to us, 'Abd al-Salam ibn Harb narrated to us, from Khusayf from Mujahid regarding His saying: "neither Fard": He said: "Neither old nor young, having given birth to one or two calves." It has also been narrated from 'Atiyah similarly.
His saying: "nor Bikr"
696 - My father narrated to us, Ibrahim ibn Musa narrated to us, Hisham ibn Yusuf reported from Ibn Jurayj from 'Ata' from Ibn Abbas regarding "nor Bikr": He said: "The Bikr is the young one."
697 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Minjab narrated to us, Bishr ibn 'Umarah reported from Abu Rawq from al-Dahhak from Ibn Abbas regarding His saying: "nor Bikr": He said: "He says: It is not a small, weak one."
698 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, 'Amr ibn Hammad ibn Talhah narrated to us, Asbat narrated to us from al-Suddi: "nor Bikr": He said: "The Bikr is the one that has not given birth, except for one offspring."
It has been narrated from Abu al-'Aliyah, 'Ata' al-Khurasani, Qatadah, and 'Ikrimah that they said: "Young."
