755 - 'Isam ibn Rawwad narrated to us, Adam narrated to us, from Abu Ja'far, from al-Rabi', from Abu al-'Aliyah regarding His saying: "Then your hearts hardened after that," meaning thereby the Children of Israel.

756 - Muhammad ibn Sa'd ibn Muhammad ibn al-Hasan ibn 'Atiyyah al-'Awfi informed us in what he wrote to me, my father narrated to me, my uncle al-Husayn narrated to me, from his father, from his grandfather, from 'Abd Allah ibn 'Abbas who said: Allah said: "Then your hearts hardened after that," meaning thereby the Children of Israel.

His saying: "They are like stones or even harder"

759 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, Abu Ghassan informed us, Salamah narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn Ishaq who said in what Muhammad ibn Abi Muhammad narrated to me, from 'Ikrimah or Sa'id ibn Jubayr, from Ibn 'Abbas: "And your hearts hardened after that, until they were like stones or even harder."

His saying: "And indeed, there are stones out of which rivers gush forth"

760 - My father narrated to us, Hisham ibn 'Ammar narrated to me, al-Hakam ibn Hisham al-Thaqafi narrated to us, Abu Talib—meaning Yahya ibn Ya'qub—narrated to me regarding Allah's saying: "And indeed, there are stones out of which rivers gush forth," he said: It is an abundance of weeping.

His saying: "And indeed, there are those that split open and water comes out of them"

761 - And by the same chain from Abu Talib Yahya ibn Ya'qub regarding Allah's saying: "And indeed, there are those that split open and water comes out of them," he said: [It is] weeping.
