His saying: "And indeed, there are those that descend from the fear of Allah, and Allah is not unaware of what you do."
762 - My father narrated to us, 'Ubayd Allah ibn Musa narrated to us, Isra'il informed us, from Mansur, from Mujahid, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: "And indeed, there are those that descend from the fear of Allah," he said: A stone falls to the ground, and if a group of people gathered around it, they would not be able to lift it, yet it descends from the fear of Allah.
763 - 'Isam ibn Rawwad narrated to us, Adam narrated to us, from Abu Ja'far, from al-Rabi', from Abu al-'Aliyah regarding His saying: "They are like stones or even harder" up to His saying: "that descend from the fear of Allah." He said: Allah excused the stones but did not excuse those whose hearts were hardened. Abu Muhammad said: A similar statement to that of Abu al-'Aliyah is narrated from Qatadah and al-Rabi' ibn Anas.
764 - al-Hasan ibn Muhammad ibn al-Sabbah narrated to us, Shababah narrated to us, from Warqa', from Ibn Abi Najih, from Mujahid: "Then your hearts hardened" up to His saying: "that descend from the fear of Allah." He said: He used to say that every stone from which water gushes forth, or that splits open with water, or that falls from the top of a mountain, is [doing so] from the fear of Allah; the Qur'an was revealed [containing] that.
765 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, Abu Ghassan informed us, Salamah narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn Ishaq, Muhammad ibn Abi Muhammad narrated to me, from 'Ikrimah, from Ibn 'Abbas: "And indeed, there are stones out of which rivers gush forth, and indeed, there are those that split open and water comes out of them, and indeed, there are those that descend from the fear of Allah," meaning: some stones are softer than your hearts regarding the truth to which you are called, "and Allah is not unaware of what you do."
766 - My father narrated to us, Hisham ibn 'Ammar narrated to me, al-Hakam ibn Hisham narrated to us, Abu Talib narrated to me regarding Allah's saying: "And indeed, there are those that descend from the fear of Allah," he said: It is the weeping of the heart without tears of the eyes.
His saying: "And Allah is not unaware of what you do"
767 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Yahya ibn 'Abd Allah ibn Bukayr narrated to us, 'Abd Allah ibn Lahi'ah narrated to me, 'Ata' ibn Dinar narrated to me, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr: "what you do," meaning: regarding what He knows about you.
