Translation · EN

Abu Muhammad said: And it was narrated similarly from Abu Wa'il, Abu al-'Aliyah, Mujahid, 'Ata', Qatadah, al-Hasan, al-Rabi' ibn Anas, and 'Ikrimah. Another saying was narrated from al-Hasan.

The Second Aspect:

824 - Al-Hasan ibn Ahmad narrated to us, Ibrahim ibn 'Abd Allah ibn Bashshar narrated to us, Surur ibn al-Mughirah narrated to me, from 'Abbad ibn Mansur, from al-Hasan: "Yes, whoever earns evil," he said: The evil is a major sin from among the major sins. Similar to this was narrated from al-Suddi.

[The First Aspect]

825 - Al-Mundhir ibn Shadhan narrated to us, Zakariya ibn 'Adi narrated to us, Ibn al-Mubarak informed us, from Ibn Jarir, from Mujahid: "And his sin has encompassed him," he said: With his heart.

826 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, Abu Ghassan informed us, Salamah narrated to us, he said: Muhammad ibn Ishaq said: Muhammad ibn Abi Muhammad narrated to me, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr or 'Ikrimah, from Ibn 'Abbas: "And his sin has encompassed him," meaning whoever acts with the likes of your deeds and disbelieves in the likes of what you have disbelieved in, until his disbelief encompasses every good deed he possesses.

827 - 'Abd Allah ibn Isma'il al-Baghdadi narrated to us, Surayj ibn Yunus narrated to us, Yahya ibn Abi Bukayr narrated to us, from Abu Bakr 'Ayyash, from Yahya ibn Ayyub, from Abu Zur'ah, from Abu Hurayrah—regarding His saying: "And his sin has encompassed him," he said: His polytheism (shirk) has encompassed him.

  • Abu Muhammad said: Three interpretations were narrated regarding the interpretation of this term.

One of them: What has preceded, and we have provided it. It was also interpreted this way by Abu Wa'il, 'Ata', and al-Hasan in the narration of 'Abbad ibn Mansur.

The Second Aspect:

828 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashaj and Ahmad ibn Sinan narrated to us; they said: Abu Yahya al-Himmani narrated to us, al-A'mash narrated to us, from Abu Razin, from al-Rabi' ibn Khuthaym: "And his sin has encompassed him," he said: The one who dies upon his sins before he repents. The phrasing belongs to Ahmad. He said: Similar to this was narrated from al-Suddi, Abu Razin, and al-A'mash.

قَالَ أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ: وَكَذَا رُوِيَ عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ وَأَبِي الْعَالِيَةِ وَمُجَاهِدٍ وَعَطَاءٍ وَقَتَادَةَ وَالْحَسَنِ والربيع بن أنس وعكرمة. ورى عَنِ الْحَسَنِ قَوْلٌ آخَرُ.

الْوَجْهُ الثَّانِي:

٨٢٤ - حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ بَشَّارٍ حَدَّثَنِي سُرُورُ بْنُ الْمُغِيرَةِ عَنْ عَبَّادِ بْنِ مَنْصُورٍ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ: بَلَى مَنْ كَسَبَ سَيِّئَةً قَالَ: السَّيِّئَةُ الْكَبِيرَةُ مِنَ الْكَبَائِرِ. وَرُوِيَ عَنِ السُّدِّيِّ نَحْوُ ذَلِكَ.

٨٢٥ - حَدَّثَنَا الْمُنْذِرُ بْنُ شَاذَانَ ثنا زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ عدي، أنبأ ابن المبارك عن ابن جرير عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ: وَأَحَاطَتْ بِهِ خَطِيئَتُهُ قَالَ: بِقَلْبِهِ.

٨٢٦ - حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى، أَنْبَأَ أَبُو غَسَّانَ ثنا سَلَمَةُ قَالَ: قَالَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ: حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ أَوْ عِكْرِمَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ:

وَأَحَاطَتْ بِهِ خَطِيئَتُهُ أَيْ مَنْ عَمِلَ بِمِثْلِ أَعْمَالِكُمْ وَكَفَرَ بِمِثْلِ مَا كَفَرْتُمْ بِهِ حَتَّى يحيط كفره بماله مِنْ حَسَنَةٍ.

٨٢٧ - حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ الْبَغْدَادِيُّ ثنا سُرَيْجُ بْنُ يونس ثنا نحيى بن أبي بكير عن أبي بكر عَيَّاشٍ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَيُّوبَ عَنْ أَبِي زُرْعَةَ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ- يَعْنِي قَوْلَهُ:

وَأَحَاطَتْ بِهِ خَطِيئَتُهُ قَالَ: أَحَاطَ بِهِ شِرْكُهُ

- قَالَ أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ: وَرُوِيَ فِي تَفْسِيرِ هَذَا الْحَرْفِ ثَلاثَةُ أَقَاوِيلَ.

أَحَدُهَا: مَا تَقَدَّمَ وَقَدْ أَتَيْنَا بِهِ. وَكَذَا فَسَّرَهُ أَبُو وَائِلٍ، وَعَطَاءٌ وَالْحَسَنُ فِي رِوَايَةِ عَبَّادِ بْنِ مَنْصُورٍ.

الْوَجْهُ الثَّانِي:

٨٢٨ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ الأَشَجُّ وَأَحْمَدُ بْنُ سِنَانٍ قَالَا: ثنا أبو نحيى الْحِمَّانِيُّ ثنا الأَعْمَشُ عَنْ أَبِي رَزِينٍ عَنِ الرَّبِيعِ بْنِ خُثَيْمٍ: وَأَحَاطَتْ بِهِ خَطِيئَتُهُ قَالَ: الَّذِي يَمُوتُ عَلَى خَطَايَاهُ مِنْ قَبْلِ أَنْ يَتُوبَ. وَالسِّيَاقُ لأَحْمَدَ. قَالَ: وَرُوِيَ عَنِ السُّدِّيِّ، وَأَبِي رَزِينٍ، وَالأَعْمَشِ نَحْوُ ذَلِكَ.
