879 - My father narrated to me, Ibn Nufayl narrated to us, 'Attab narrated to us, from Khusayf, from Ziyad ibn Abi Maryam regarding His saying: "We gave" (atina), he said: We bestowed (a'tayna).
His saying: "And We caused to follow him with messengers"
880 - Abu Bakr ibn Abi Musa narrated to us, Harun ibn Hatim narrated to us, 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Hammad narrated to us, from Asbat ibn Nasr, from al-Suddi, from Abu Malik regarding His saying: "And We caused to follow" (wa qaffayna), he means: We caused to follow after (atba'na).
His saying: "And We gave Jesus, the son of Mary, clear proofs"
881 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, Abu Ghassan informed us, Salamah narrated to us, he said: Muhammad ibn Ishaq said: Muhammad ibn Abi Muhammad narrated to me, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, or 'Ikrimah, from Ibn 'Abbas: "And We gave Moses the Book and We caused to follow him with messengers, and We gave Jesus, the son of Mary, clear proofs," meaning the signs which He placed at his hands, from the reviving of the dead and his creating from clay the likeness of a bird, then he would blow into it and it would become a bird by the permission of Allah, and the healing of the sick, and the reporting of much of the unseen matters of what they store in their houses, and what was made lawful for them from the Torah along with the Gospel which He revealed to him, then He mentioned their disbelief in all of that.

882 - Ahmad ibn 'Amr ibn Abi 'Asim al-Nabil narrated to us, my father narrated to us, Shabib ibn Bishr narrated to us, 'Ikrimah narrated to us, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding the saying of Allah: "We supported him" (ayyadnahu), he says: We strengthened (qawwayna).
883 - My father narrated to us, Shihab ibn 'Abbad narrated to us, Ibrahim ibn Humayd narrated to us, from Isma'il ibn Abi Khalid: "And We supported him with the Holy Spirit," he said: Gabriel aided him. And it was narrated from al-Rabi' ibn Anas similarly.

884 - Ahmad ibn Sinan al-Wasiti narrated to us, 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Mahdi narrated to us, Sufyan narrated to us, from Salamah ibn Kuhayl, Abu al-Za'ra' narrated to us, he said: 'Abd Allah said: The Holy Spirit is Gabriel. It was narrated from Muhammad ibn Ka'b al-Qurazi, Qatadah, 'Atiyyah al-'Awfi, al-Suddi, al-Rabi' ibn Anas, and Isma'il ibn Abi Khalid similarly.

٨٨٠ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي مُوسَى ثنا هَارُونُ بْنُ حَاتِمٍ ثنا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ أَبِي حَمَّادٍ عَنْ أَسْبَاطِ بْنِ نَصْرٍ عَنِ السُّدِّيِّ عَنْ أَبِي مَالِكٍ قَوْلُهُ: وَقَفَّيْنَا يَعْنِي- أَتْبَعْنَا.
قَوْلُهُ: وَآتَيْنَا عِيسَى ابْنَ مَرْيَمَ الْبَيِّنَاتِ
٨٨١ - حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى، أَنْبَأَ أَبُو غَسَّانَ ثنا سَلَمَةُ قَالَ: قَالَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ: حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ، أَوْ عِكْرِمَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ وَلَقَدْ آتَيْنَا مُوسَى الْكِتَابَ وَقَفَّيْنَا مِنْ بَعْدِهِ بالرسل وَآتَيْنَا عِيسَى ابْنَ مَرْيَمَ الْبَيِّنَاتِ أَيِ الآيَاتِ الَّتِي وَضَعَ عَلَى يَدَيْهِ، مِنْ إِحْيَاءِ الْمَوْتَى وَخَلْقِهِ مِنَ الطِّينِ كَهَيْئَةِ الطَّيْرِ، ثُمَّ يَنْفُخُ فِيهِ فَيَكُونُ طَيْرًا بِإِذْنِ اللَّهِ وَإِبْرَاءِ الأَسْقَامِ وَالْخَبَرِ بِكَثِيرٍ مِنَ الْغُيُوبِ مِمَّا يَدَّخِرُونَ فِي بُيُوتِهِمْ، ومارد عَلَيْهِمْ مِنَ التَّوْرَاةِ مَعَ الإِنْجِيلِ الَّذِي أَحْدَثَ إِلَيْهِ ثُمَّ ذَكَرَ كُفْرَهُمْ بِذَلِكَ كُلِّهِ.

٨٨٢ - حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَمْرِو بْنِ أَبِي عَاصِمٍ النبيل ثنا أبي ثنا أبى شَبِيبُ بْنُ بِشْرٍ ثنا عِكْرِمَةُ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ فِي قَوْلِ اللَّهِ: أيدناه يَقُولُ: قَوَّيْنَا.
٨٨٣ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ثنا شِهَابُ بْنُ عَبَّادٍ ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ أَبِي خَالِدٍ: وَأَيَّدْنَاهُ بِرُوحِ الْقُدُسِ قَالَ: أَعَانَهُ جِبْرِيلُ. وَرُوِيَ عَنِ الرَّبِيعِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ نَحْوُ ذَلِكَ.

٨٨٤ - حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ سِنَانٍ الْوَاسِطِيُّ ثنا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ ثنا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ كُهَيْلٍ ثنا أَبُو الزَّعْرَاءِ قَالَ: قَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ: رَوْحُ الْقُدُسِ جِبْرِيلُ. رُوِيَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ كَعْبٍ الْقُرَظِيِّ وَقَتَادَةَ وَعَطِيَّةَ الْعَوْفِيِّ والسدي، والربيع ان أَنَسٍ وَإِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ أَبِي خَالِدٍ نَحْوُ ذَلِكَ.
