His saying: "That they should disbelieve in what Allah has revealed."
910 - 'Isam ibn Rawwad narrated to us, Adam, Abu Ja'far narrated to us, from al-Rabi', from Abu al-'Aliyah, regarding "that they should disbelieve in what Allah has revealed," he said: The Jews disbelieved in what was revealed to Muhammad, may Allah bless him and grant him peace.
His saying: "In what Allah has revealed, out of defiance."
911 - Through the same chain from Abu al-'Aliyah, regarding "in what Allah has revealed," he said: It refers to the Jews. He said to His Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace: "How wretched is the price for which they sold their own selves that they should disbelieve in what Allah has revealed, out of defiance," meaning out of envy.
His saying: "That Allah should send down of His bounty upon whom He wills from among His servants."
912 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, Abu Ghassan informed us, Salamah narrated to us, he said: Muhammad ibn Ishaq said, Muhammad ibn Abi Muhammad told me, from 'Ikrimah or Sa'id ibn Jubayr, from Ibn 'Abbas: Allah says, "How wretched is the price for which they sold their own selves that they should disbelieve in what Allah has revealed, out of defiance, that Allah should send down of His bounty upon whom He wills from among His servants," meaning that Allah placed it [the revelation/bounty] in other than them.
His saying: "So they have incurred."
913 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Yahya ibn 'Abd Allah ibn Bukayr narrated to us, Ibn Lahi'ah told me, from 'Ata' ibn Dinar, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr regarding the saying of Allah, "So they have incurred wrath upon wrath," he says: They have rendered themselves deserving [of it].
[His saying: "So they have incurred wrath upon wrath, and for the disbelievers is a humiliating punishment."]
[The first interpretation]
914 - 'Isam ibn Rawwad narrated to us, Adam narrated to us, Abu Ja'far narrated to us, from al-Rabi', from Abu al-'Aliyah, who said: Allah says, "So they have incurred wrath upon wrath," he says: Allah became angry with them for their disbelief in the Gospel and 'Isa [Jesus]. Then He became angry with them for their disbelief in Muhammad and the Qur'an.
915 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, Abu Ghassan informed us, Salamah narrated to us, he said: Muhammad ibn Ishaq said: Muhammad ibn Abi Muhammad told me, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr or 'Ikrimah, from Ibn 'Abbas: "So they have incurred wrath upon wrath," the wrath upon wrath is because of His anger upon them for what they squandered of the Torah while it was with them, and a [second] wrath for their disbelief in this Prophet whom Allah sent to them. Similar [interpretations] were narrated from 'Ikrimah, Mujahid, 'Ata', Qatadah, and Ibn Abi Khalid.
قوله: أَنْ يَكْفُرُوا بِمَا أَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ
٩١٠ - حَدَّثَنَا عِصَامُ بْنُ رَوَّادٍ ثنا آدَمُ أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ عَنِ الرَّبِيعِ عَنْ أَبِي الْعَالِيَةِ أَنْ يَكْفُرُوا بِمَا أَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ قَالَ: الْيَهُودُ كَفَرُوا بِمَا أَنْزَلَ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ.
قَوْلُهُ: بِمَا أَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ بَغْيًا
٩١١ - بِهِ عَنْ أَبِي الْعَالِيَةِ بِمَا أَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ قَالَ: هُمُ الْيَهُودُ قَالَ لِنَبِيِّهِ- صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ-: بِئْسَمَا اشْتَرَوْا بِهِ أَنْفُسَهُمْ أَنْ يَكْفُرُوا بِمَا أَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ بَغْيًا يَعْنِي حَسَدًا.
قَوْلُهُ: أَنْ يُنَزِّلَ اللَّهُ مِنْ فَضْلِهِ عَلَى مَنْ يَشَاءُ مِنْ عِبَادِهِ
٩١٢ - حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى أَنْبَأَ أَبُو غَسَّانَ ثنا سَلَمَةُ قَالَ: قَالَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ، أَوْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ يَقُولُ اللَّهُ بِئْسَمَا اشْتَرَوْا بِهِ أَنْفُسَهُمْ أَنْ يَكْفُرُوا بِمَا أَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ بَغْيًا أَنْ يُنَزِّلَ اللَّهُ مِنْ فَضْلِهِ عَلَى مَنْ يَشَاءُ مِنْ عِبَادِهِ أَيْ أَنَّ اللَّهَ جَعَلَهُ فِي غَيْرِهِمْ.
قَوْلُهُ: فباؤ
٩١٣ - حدثنا أبو زرعة ثنا نحيى بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ بُكَيْرٍ حَدَّثَنِي ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنُ جُبَيْرٍ في قول الله: فباؤ بغضب على غضب يقول:
استوجبوا.

٩١٤ - حَدَّثَنَا عِصَامُ بْنُ رَوَّادٍ ثنا آدَمُ ثنا أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ عَنِ الرَّبِيعِ عَنْ أَبِي الْعَالِيَةِ قال:
يقول الله: فباؤ بِغَضَبٍ عَلَى غَضَبٍ يَقُولُ: غَضِبَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِمْ بِكُفْرِهِمْ بِالإِنْجِيلِ وَعِيسَى. ثُمَّ غَضِبَ عَلَيْهِمْ بِكُفْرِهِمْ بِمُحَمَّدٍ وَبِالْقُرَآنِ.
٩١٥ - حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى أَنْبَأَ أَبُو غَسَّانَ ثنا سَلَمَةُ قَالَ: قَالَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ: حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ، أَوْ عِكْرِمَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ فباؤ بِغَضَبٍ عَلَى غَضَبٍ فَالْغَضَبُ عَلَى غَضَبٍ بِغَضَبِهِ عَلَيْهِمْ فِيمَا كَانُوا ضَيَّعُوا مِنَ التَّوْرَاةِ وَهِيَ مَعَهُمْ، وَغَضَبٌ بِكُفْرِهِمْ بِهَذَا النَّبِيِّ الَّذِي أَحْدَثَ الله إليهم. وَرُوِيَ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ وَمُجَاهِدٍ وَعَطَاءٍ وَقَتَادَةَ وَابْنِ أَبِي خَالِدٍ نَحْوُ ذَلِكَ.
