[His saying: "And feared Allah"]
1032 - And by the same chain, from Qatadah, regarding His saying: "And feared Allah," he said: "Fear what Allah has forbidden."
His saying: "A reward from Allah is better, if they only knew"
1033 - 'Isam ibn Rawwad narrated to us, Adam narrated to us, from Abu Ja'far, from al-Rabi', from Abu al-'Aliyah, regarding His saying: "A reward from Allah," meaning: "A recompense from Allah is better." It was narrated from al-Hasan, Qatadah, al-Suddi, and al-Rabi' ibn Anas something similar.
His saying: "If they only knew"
1034 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Minjab ibn al-Harith narrated to us, Bishr ibn 'Umarah informed us, from Abu Rawq, from al-Dahhak, from Ibn 'Abbas, who said: "Everything in the Qur'an [preceded by] 'if' (law), it will never come to pass."
His saying: "O you who have believed"
[The first interpretation]
1035 - My father narrated to us, Sahl ibn 'Uthman al-'Askari narrated to us, 'Isa ibn Rashid narrated to me, he said: I heard 'Ali ibn Badhi'ah say: I heard 'Ikrimah narrating from Ibn 'Abbas, who said: "Allah did not reveal a verse in the Qur'an in which He says, 'O you who have believed,' except that it addresses the noble and the leader among them. And indeed, Allah admonished the companions of Muhammad in more than one verse of the Qur'an, and He never mentioned 'Ali except with goodness."
The second interpretation:
1036 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashaj narrated to us, 'Abdah ibn Sulayman narrated to us, from al-A'mash, from Khaythamah, who said: "What you read in the Qur'an as: 'O you who have believed,' is in the Torah: 'O you poor ones.'"
1037 - My father narrated to us, Nu'aym ibn Hammad narrated to us, 'Abdullah ibn al-Mubarak narrated to us, Mis'ar narrated to us, Ma'n and 'Awn narrated to me—or one of them—that a man came to 'Abdullah ibn Mas'ud and said: "Give me a covenant (instruction)." He said: "When you hear Allah say: 'O you who have believed,' then lend it your hearing; for it is either good that He is commanding, or evil that He is forbidding."
[His saying: "Do not say Ra'ina"]
[The first interpretation]
There is disagreement regarding its interpretation in several ways, one of which is:
1038 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Minjab ibn al-Harith narrated to us, Bishr ibn 'Umarah informed us, from Abu Rawq, from al-Dahhak, from Ibn 'Abbas, regarding His saying: "Do not say Ra'ina," he said: "They used to say to the Prophet—"
