His statement: "The wrongdoers"

There is a difference of opinion regarding its interpretation in several aspects:

[The First Aspect]

Some of them interpreted it as referring to shirk (polytheism).

1184 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Yahya ibn 'Abd Allah ibn Bukayr narrated to us, 'Abd Allah ibn Lahi'ah narrated to me, 'Ata' ibn Dinar narrated to me, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr regarding Allah's statement: "My covenant does not include the wrongdoers," he said: "The wrongdoer in this verse is the polytheist. An imam cannot be a wrongdoer." He says: "An imam cannot be a polytheist."

The Second Aspect

He who interpreted it as referring to an enemy of Allah.

1185 - My father narrated to us, al-Haytham ibn Yaman narrated to us, Isma'il ibn Zakariyya narrated to us, from Juwaybir, from al-Dahhak regarding His statement: "My covenant does not include the wrongdoers," he said: "My obedience does not include My enemy, and I do not grant it except to a close friend (wali) of Mine."

The Third Aspect

He who interpreted it according to the literal meaning of the revelation.

1186 - al-Hasan ibn Muhammad ibn al-Sabbah narrated to us, Ishaq al-Azraq narrated to us, Sufyan narrated to us, from Harun ibn 'Antarah, from his father, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding His statement: "My covenant does not include the wrongdoers," he said: "A wrongdoer does not have a covenant over you in matters of disobedience to Allah such that you should obey him." It was narrated from Mujahid, 'Ata', and Muqatil ibn Hayyan something similar.

The Fourth Aspect:

1187 - al-Hasan ibn Abi al-Rabi' narrated to us, 'Abd al-Razzaq informed us, Ma'mar informed us, from Qatadah regarding His statement: "My covenant does not include the wrongdoers," he said: "Allah's covenant in the Hereafter does not include the wrongdoers; as for in this world, the wrongdoer has attained it, so he felt secure by it, ate, and lived."

1188 - Shayban added in his narration from Qatadah: "So when the Day of Resurrection comes, Allah will fulfill His covenant and His honor for His close friends (awliya')." It was narrated from al-Hasan and 'Ikrimah something similar.

His statement: "And when We made the House"

1189 - It was mentioned to me from 'Ali ibn al-Hasan ibn Shaqiq, from al-Husayn ibn Waqid, from Zayd ibn Aslam regarding His statement: "And when We made the House," he said: "It is the Ka'bah."

اختلف في تفسيره على أوجه:

[الوجه الأول]

فَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ فَسَّرَهُ عَلَى الشِّرْكِ.

١١٨٤ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زُرْعَةَ ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ بُكَيْرٍ حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ لَهِيعَةَ حَدَّثَنِي عَطَاءُ بْنُ دِينَارٍ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنُ جُبَيْرٍ فِي قَوْلِ اللَّهِ: لَا يَنَالُ عَهْدِي الظَّالِمِينَ قَالَ: الظَّالِمُ فِي هَذِهِ الآيَةِ الْمُشْرِكُ لَا يكون إمام ظالما. يقول: لا يكون إمام مُشْرِكًا.

وَالوجه الثَّانِي

: مَنْ فَسَّرَهُ عَلَى أَنَّهُ عَدُوُّ اللَّهِ.

١١٨٥ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ثنا الْهَيْثَمُ بْنُ يَمَانٍ ثنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ زَكَرِيَّا عَنْ جُوَيْبِرٍ عَنِ الضَّحَّاكِ فِي قَوْلِهِ: لَا يَنَالُ عَهْدِي الظَّالِمِينَ قَالَ: لَا يَنَالُ طَاعَتِي عَدُوِّي وَلا أُنْحِلُهَا إِلا وَلِيًّا لِي.

وَالوجه الثَّالِثُ

: فَسَّرَهُ عَلَى ظَاهِرِ التَّنْزِيلِ.

١١٨٦ - حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الصَّبَّاحِ ثنا إِسْحَاقُ الأَزْرَقُ ثنا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ هَارُونَ بْنِ عَنْتَرَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ فِي قَوْلِهِ: لَا يَنَالُ عَهْدِي الظَّالِمِينَ قَالَ: لَيْسَ لِظَالِمٍ عَلَيْكَ عَهْدٌ فِي مَعْصِيَةِ اللَّهِ أَنْ تُطِيعَهُ. وَرُوِيَ عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ، وَعَطَاءٍ، وَمُقَاتِلِ بْنِ حَيَّانَ نَحْوُ ذَلِكَ.

وَالْوَجْهُ الرَّابِعُ:

١١٨٧ - حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ أَبِي الرَّبِيعِ أَنْبَأَ عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ «١» أَنْبَأَ مَعْمَرٌ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ فِي قَوْلِهِ: لا يَنَالُ عَهْدِي الظَّالِمِينَ قَالَ: لَا يَنَالُ عَهْدُ اللَّهِ فِي الآخِرَةِ الظَّالِمِينَ، فَأَمَّا فِي الدُّنْيَا فَقَدْ نَالَهُ الظَّالِمُ، فَأَمِنَ بِهِ، وَأَكَلَ، وَعَاشَ.

١١٨٨ - وَزَادَ شَيْبَانُ فِي رِوَايَتِهِ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ: فَإِذَا كَانَ يَوْمُ الْقِيَامَةِ قَضَى اللَّهُ عَهْدَهُ وَكَرَامَتَهُ عَلَى أَوْلِيَائِهِ. وَرُوِيَ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ، وَعِكْرِمَةَ نَحْوُ ذَلِكَ.

قَوْلُهُ: وَإِذْ جَعَلْنَا الْبَيْتَ

١١٨٩ - ذُكِرَ لِي عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ شَقِيقٍ عَنِ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ وَاقِدٍ عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ فِي قَوْلِهِ: وَإِذْ جَعَلْنَا الْبَيْتَ قَالَ: وهي الكعبة.
