[The Third Aspect]

1214 - 'Ali ibn al-Hasan narrated to us, Musaddad narrated to us, Yahya ibn Sa'id al-Qattan narrated to us, from 'Abd al-Malik, from 'Ata' regarding His statement: "And those who reside [for worship]," he said: Those who come to it from the cities and take up residence near it. And he said: It is for us, and we are neighbors, you are among those who reside [for worship].

[The Fourth Aspect:]

1215 - My father narrated to us, Musa ibn Isma'il narrated to us, Hammad ibn Salamah narrated to us, Thabit narrated to us, he said: I said to 'Abdullah ibn 'Ubayd ibn 'Umayr: I think I shall speak to the governor to prevent those who sleep in the Sacred Mosque, for they become in a state of ritual impurity (junub) and break their ablution? He said: Do not do that, for Ibn 'Umar was asked about them and said: They are those who reside [for worship].

His statement: "And those who bow and prostrate"

1216 - Abu Sa'id al-Ashaj narrated to us, Waki' narrated to us, from Abu Bakr al-Hudhali, from 'Ata', from Ibn 'Abbas: "And those who bow and prostrate," he said: When he is praying, he is among those who bow and prostrate. It was reported similarly from 'Ata', Muqatil ibn Hayyan, and Qatadah.

His statement: "And when Abraham said: 'My Lord, make this a secure city'"

1217 - My father narrated to us, Ibrahim narrated to us, Hatim ibn Isma'il narrated to us, from Abu Sakhr, from 'Ammar al-Duhni, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding His statement: "Make this a secure city," he said: Abraham was restricting it to the believers to the exclusion of other people.

1218 - Al-Hasan ibn Ahmad narrated to us, Ibrahim ibn 'Abdullah ibn Bashshar narrated to us, Surur ibn al-Mughirah narrated to me, from 'Abbad ibn Mansur, from al-Hasan regarding His statement: "And when Abraham said: 'My Lord, make this a secure city,'" he said: This is a supplication which Abraham prayed, and He answered his supplication and made it a secure city.

His statement: "And provide its people with fruits, [specifically] those of them who believe in Allah and the Last Day"

1219 - My father narrated to us, Hisham ibn 'Ammar narrated to us, Hatim ibn Isma'il narrated to us, from Humayd—meaning Abu Sakhr—from 'Ammar al-Duhni, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding His statement: "Make this a secure city and provide its people with fruits, [specifically] those of them who believe in Allah and the Last Day," he said: Abraham was restricting it to the believers."
