the picks, not knowing where the House was. So Allah the Almighty sent a wind called the wind of Khujuj, which had two wings and a head in the form of a snake, and it cleared for them the area around the Ka'bah down to the foundation of the first House.
They followed it with picks, digging until they placed the foundation. This is what He means when He says: "And when We designated for Abraham the site of the House." When they had built the foundations and reached the place of the corner (al-Rukn), Abraham said to Ishmael: "O my son, find me a good stone which I may place here." He said: "O my father, I am lazy and exhausted." He said: "Leave that to me." He went out looking for a stone, and Gabriel came to him with the Black Stone from India. It was a white jacinth, like the thughamah plant, and Adam had brought it down from Paradise, but it turned black due to the sins of the people. Ishmael brought him a stone, but he found it (the Black Stone) at the corner. He said: "O my father, who brought this to you?" He said: "He who is more active than you brought it." So they built while calling upon the words with which his Lord tried Abraham, saying: "Our Lord, accept [this] from us. Indeed You are the Hearing, the Knowing."
His statement: "the foundations of the House"
1238 - My father narrated to us, 'Amr ibn Rafi' narrated to us, 'Abd al-Wahhab ibn Mu'awiyah narrated to us, from 'Abd al-Mu'min ibn Khalid, from 'Ilba' ibn Ahmar: That Dhu al-Qarnayn came to Makkah and found Abraham and Ishmael building the foundations of the House.
His statement: "Our Lord, accept [this] from us"
1239 - Al-Hasan ibn Ahmad narrated to us, Ibrahim ibn 'Abd Allah ibn Bashshar al-Wasiti narrated to us, Surur ibn al-Mughirah narrated to me, 'Abbad ibn Mansur narrated to us, from al-Hasan: Ishmael used to say while they were building it: "Our Lord, accept [this] from us. Indeed You are the Hearing, the Knowing." So He accepted it from them.
1240 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, Abu Bakr ibn Muhammad ibn Yazid ibn Khunays and Ibn Abi Ziyad narrated to us, they said: Muhammad ibn Yazid ibn Khunays al-Makki narrated to us, from Wuhayb ibn al-Ward, he said: He recited: "And when Abraham was raising the foundations of the House and Ishmael, 'Our Lord, accept [this] from us.'" Ibn Khunays added in his narration: Then he would weep. Wuhayb said: "O Khalil al-Rahman (Friend of the Most Merciful), you are raising the pillars of the House of the Most Merciful while you are fearful that He might not accept it from you."
