1274 - al-Hasan ibn Ahmad narrated to us, Ibrahim ibn 'Abd Allah ibn Bashshar al-Wasiti narrated to us, Surur ibn al-Mughirah narrated to us, from 'Abbad ibn Mansur, from al-Hasan: "When his Lord said to him, 'Submit,' he said, 'I have submitted to the Lord of the worlds,'" he said: He asked him for Islam, and he gave it to Him, and he answered his Lord in that with goodness and recognition of Him; he said: "I have submitted to the Lord of the worlds."

His statement: "And Abraham instructed his sons [to do the same]"

1275 - Muhammad ibn Sa'd ibn Muhammad ibn al-Hasan ibn 'Atiyyah al-'Awfi informed us in what he wrote to me, my father narrated to me, my uncle narrated to me, from his father, from his grandfather, from 'Abd Allah ibn 'Abbas: "And Abraham instructed his sons [to do the same]," he said: He instructed them with Islam. The instruction of Allah is the religion of Allah.

His statement: "and [so did] Jacob, 'O my sons, indeed Allah has chosen for you the religion'"

1276 - By this chain, from Ibn 'Abbas: "And Abraham instructed his sons [to do the same] and [so did] Jacob," he said: Jacob instructed his sons with the same thing—meaning with Islam; the instruction of Allah is the religion of Allah. It was narrated from al-Hasan and Qatadah similar to that.

His statement: "Indeed Allah has chosen for you the religion"

1277 - My father narrated to us, Abu Hudhayfah narrated to us, Shibl narrated to us, from Qays ibn Sa'd, from Tawus: "so do not die except while you are Muslims," upon Islam and upon the covenant of Islam.

1278 - 'Isam ibn Rawwad narrated to us, Adam narrated to us, Abu Ja'far narrated to us, from al-Rabi', from Abu al-'Aliyah, regarding His statement: "Or were you witnesses?" meaning the People of the Scripture.

His statement: "when death approached Jacob, when he said to his sons, 'What will you worship after me?'"

1279 - al-Hasan ibn Ahmad narrated to us, Ibrahim ibn 'Abd Allah ibn Bashshar narrated to us, Surur ibn al-Mughirah narrated to me, from 'Abbad, from al-Hasan, regarding His statement: "Or were you witnesses when death approached Jacob, when he said to his sons."
