for the sake of Allah, even if it is burdensome to the souls and bodies, and patience for the sake of Allah against what He has forbidden, even if desires pull one toward it. Whoever is like this is among the patient to whom peace is sent, if Allah wills.
1406 - 'Ali ibn al-Husayn narrated to us, al-Haytham ibn Yaman narrated to us, ibn Harun narrated to us, Abu Hamzah al-Thumali narrated to us, from 'Ali ibn al-Husayn, who said: When Allah gathers the first and the last, a herald will call: Where are the patient? Let them enter Paradise before the reckoning. He said: A group of people will stand up, and the angels will meet them saying: Where are you going, O children of Adam? They will say: To Paradise. They will say: Even before the reckoning? They will say: Yes. They will say: Who are you? They will say: The patient. They will say: What was your patience? They will say: We were patient in obeying Allah, and we were patient against disobeying Allah, until Allah took our souls. They will say: You are as you said, enter Paradise, for how excellent is the reward of the workers.

A man may be distressed while appearing steadfast, with nothing visible from him but patience.

Whoever is like this is among the patient.
