disaster, Allah writes for him three merits: prayers from Allah, mercy, and the realization of the path of guidance. And the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Whoever says 'Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un' (Indeed we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we will return) at the time of a disaster, Allah will compensate him for his disaster, grant him a better outcome, and provide him with a righteous successor whom he will be pleased with."
1422 - Al-Hasan ibn Muhammad ibn al-Sabbah narrated to us, Muhammad ibn 'Ubayd narrated to us, Sufyan al-'Usfuri narrated to us, who said: I heard Sa'id ibn Jubayr saying: This nation has been given something at the time of disaster that was not given to the prophets before it: "Indeed we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we will return." If the prophets had been given it, it would have been given to Jacob when he said, "Oh, my sorrow for Joseph."
1423 - Usayd ibn 'Asim narrated to us, al-Husayn ibn Hafs narrated to us, Sufyan narrated to us, from Juwaybir, from al-Dahhak, who said: A man wrote to him asking about this verse: "Who, when disaster strikes them, say, 'Indeed we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we will return.'" Is it specific or general? He said: It is for those who believe in piety and perform the obligatory duties.
1424 - My father narrated to us, 'Imran ibn Musa al-Tarasusi narrated to us, 'Abd al-Samad ibn Yazid, servant of al-Fudayl ibn 'Iyad, narrated to us saying: The slave's saying "Indeed we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we will return" is interpreted as: I belong to Allah and I am returning to Allah.
His saying: "Those are upon them are prayers from their Lord"
1425 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Yahya ibn 'Abd Allah ibn Bukayr narrated to us, 'Abd Allah ibn Lahi'ah narrated to me, 'Ata' ibn Dinar narrated to me, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr, regarding His saying: "Those are upon them..." meaning: upon those who are patient regarding the command of Allah at the time of disaster.

1426 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Yahya ibn 'Abd Allah ibn Bukayr narrated to us, 'Abd Allah ibn Lahi'ah narrated to me, 'Ata' ibn Dinar narrated to me, from Ibn Jubayr, regarding His saying: "Prayers from their Lord" meaning: forgiveness from their Lord.

الْمُصِيبَةِ، كَتَبَ اللَّهُ لَهُ ثَلاثَ خِصَالٍ مِنَ الْخَيْرِ: الصَّلاةُ مِنَ اللَّهِ، وَالرَّحْمَةُ، وَتَحْقِيقُ سَبِيلِ الْهُدَى، وَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: مَنِ اسْتَرْجَعَ عِنْدَ الْمُصِيبَةِ، جَبَرَ اللَّهُ مُصِيبَتَهُ وَأَحْسَنَ عُقْبَاهُ، وَجَعَلَ لَهُ خَلَفًا صَالِحًا يَرْضَاهُ.
١٤٢٢ - حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الصَّبَّاحِ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ، ثنا سُفْيَانُ الْعُصْفُرِيُّ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ سَعِيدَ بْنَ جُبَيْرٍ يَقُولُ: لَقَدْ أُعْطِيَتْ هَذِهِ الأُمَّةُ عِنْدَ الْمُصِيبَةِ مَا لَمْ تُعْطَ الأَنْبِيَاءُ قَبْلَهَا: إِنَّا لِلَّهِ وَإِنَّا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ، وَلَوْ أُعْطِيَتْهُ الأَنْبِيَاءُ لأُعْطِيَهَا يَعْقُوبُ إِذْ قَالَ: يَا أَسَفَى عَلَى يُوسُفَ
١٤٢٣ - حَدَّثَنَا أُسَيْدُ بْنُ عَاصِمٍ، ثنا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ حَفْصٍ، ثنا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ جُوَيْبِرٍ، عَنِ الضَّحَّاكِ، قَالَ: كَتَبَ إِلَيْهِ رَجُلٌ يَسْأَلُهُ عَنْ هَذِهِ الآيَةِ الَّذِينَ إِذَا أَصَابَتْهُمْ مُصِيبَةٌ قَالُوا إِنَّا لِلَّهِ وإنا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ أَخَاصَّةٌ هِيَ؟ أَوْ عَامَّةٌ؟ قَالَ: هِيَ لِمَنْ آمَنَ بِالتَّقْوَى وَأَدَّى الْفَرَائِضَ.
١٤٢٤ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، ثنا عِمْرَانُ بْنُ مُوسَى الطَّرَسُوسِيُّ، ثنا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ بْنُ يَزِيدَ خَادِمُ الْفُضَيْلِ بْنِ عِيَاضٍ يَقُولُ: قَوْلُ الْعَبْدِ: إِنَّا لِلَّهِ وَإِنَّا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ تَفْسِيرُهَا:
إِنِّي لِلَّهِ وَإِنِّي إِلَى اللَّهِ رَاجِعٌ.
قوله: أُولَئِكَ عَلَيْهِمْ صَلَوَاتٌ مِنْ رَبِّهِمْ
١٤٢٥ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زُرْعَةَ، ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ بُكَيْرٍ، حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ لَهِيعَةَ، حَدَّثَنِي عَطَاءُ بْنُ دِينَارٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ، فِي قَوْلِهِ: أُولَئِكَ عَلَيْهِمْ يَعْنِي: عَلَى مَنْ صَبَرَ عَلَى أَمْرِ اللَّهِ عِنْدَ الْمُصِيبَةِ.
قوله: صَلَوَاتٌ مِنْ رَبِّهِمْ
١٤٢٦ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زُرْعَةَ، ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ عَبْدِ الله عن بْنُ لَهِيعَةَ، حَدَّثَنِي عَطَاءُ بْنُ دِينَارٍ، عَنْ ابْنِ جُبَيْرٍ فِي قَوْلِهِ: صَلَوَاتٌ مِنْ رَبِّهِمْ يَعْنِي مَغْفِرَةً مِنْ رَبِّهِمْ
١٤٢٧ - حَدَّثَنَا أُسَيْدُ بْنُ عَاصِمٍ، ثنا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ حَفْصٍ، ثنا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ جُوَيْبِرٍ فِي هَذِهِ الآيَةِ: أُولَئِكَ عَلَيْهِمْ صَلَوَاتٌ مِنْ رَبِّهِمْ وَرَحْمَةٌ قَالَ: هِيَ لِمَنْ أَخَذَ بِالتَّقْوَى وَأَدَّى الْفَرَائِضَ.
