Volume 1 · Page 264His saying: 'And what Allah has sent down from the heavens, rain, giving life thereby to the earth after its lifelessness and dispersing therein every kind of moving creature'

Translation · EN

His saying: "And what Allah has sent down from the sky of rain, giving life thereby to the earth after its lifelessness and dispersing therein every [kind of] moving creature."

1468 - My father narrated to us, Sulayman ibn Harb narrated to us, Hammad ibn Zayd narrated to us, from 'Abd al-Jalil, from Shahr ibn Hawshab, that Abu Hurayrah said: "No drop of rain falls except by a measure."

1469 - My father narrated to me, Mahmud ibn Ghaylan narrated to us, 'Ali ibn al-Husayn ibn Shaqiq narrated to us, al-Husayn ibn Waqid informed us, 'Ilba' ibn Ahmar informed us, from 'Ikrimah, he said: "Allah sends down the water from the seventh heaven, and the drop of it falls upon the cloud like a camel."

His saying: "Giving life thereby to the earth after its lifelessness."

1470 - Ahmad ibn Sinan narrated to us, 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Mahdi narrated to us, Sufyan narrated to us, from Salamah ibn Kuhayl, Abu al-Za'ra' narrated to us, from 'Abd Allah, who said: "Allah, the Almighty and Majestic, will send down water from beneath the Throne, semen like the semen of men." He said: "Then their bodies and their flesh will grow from that water, just as the earth grows [vegetation] from the soil." Then 'Abd Allah recited: "Giving life thereby to the earth after its lifelessness."

1471 - Ibrahim ibn 'Atiq al-Dimashqi narrated to us, Marwan ibn Muhammad narrated to us, Sa'id ibn 'Abd al-'Aziz narrated to us, from Sulayman ibn Musa, who said: Abu Razin al-'Uqayli said: I came to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, and said: "How does Allah give life to the dead?" He said: "Have you not come upon a piece of land of yours while it was barren?" I said: "Yes." "Then you came upon it while it was fertile?" I said: "Yes." "Then you came upon it while it was barren?" I said: "Yes." "Then you came upon it while it was fertile?" I said: "Yes." He said: "Such is the resurrection."

1472 - Muhammad ibn Yahya narrated to us, al-'Abbas ibn al-Walid informed us, Yazid ibn Zuray', narrated to us, from Sa'id, from Qatadah, regarding His saying, the Almighty and Majestic: "Giving life thereby to the earth after its lifelessness." He said: "Just as Allah gave life to the dead earth with this water, likewise Allah, the Almighty and Majestic, will give life to the people on the Day of Resurrection."

His saying: "And dispersing therein every [kind of] moving creature."

1473 - Ahmad ibn 'Uthman ibn Hakim narrated to us, Ahmad ibn al-Mufaddal narrated to us, Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi, regarding His saying, the Almighty and Majestic: "And dispersing therein every [kind of] moving creature." He said: "Dispersing (baththa) means: He created." It was narrated from Muqatil ibn Hayyan similarly.
