His saying: "Merciful"
Through the same chain from Sa'id ibn Jubayr: meaning, He is merciful to him, since He made the unlawful lawful for him in times of necessity.
His saying: "Indeed, those who conceal what Allah has sent down of the Book"
1533 - 'Isam ibn Rawwad narrated to us, Adam narrated to us, Abu Ja'far narrated to us, from al-Rabi', from Abu al-'Aliyah, regarding His saying: "Indeed, those who conceal what Allah has sent down," he said: They are the People of the Book. They concealed what Allah sent down to them in their Book regarding the truth, guidance, Islam, and the status of Muhammad, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and his description. It is reported from al-Hasan, Qatadah, al-Suddi, and al-Rabi' ibn Anas something similar.
His saying: "And exchange it for a small price"
1534 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, 'Amr ibn Hammad narrated to us, Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi: "And exchange it for a small price," these are the Jews who concealed the name of Muhammad, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and took a small bribe for it; that is the small price. It is reported from al-Hasan something similar.
