The second interpretation:
1580 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, 'Amr ibn Hammad ibn Talhah narrated to us, Asbat narrated to us, from al-Suddi regarding His saying: "But if something is pardoned for him by his brother" - he says: Whoever has any part of his brother's blood money remaining for him, or any part of the compensation for his injury, let him pursue it with fairness, and let the other perform it for him with kindness.
The third interpretation:
1581 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Minjab ibn al-Harith narrated to us, Bishr ibn 'Umarah informed us, from Abu Rawq, from al-Dahhak, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: "But if something is pardoned for him" - he says: Whoever is left something by his brother, meaning: he accepted the blood money after the right to blood was established, and that is: the pardon.
His saying: "Then a fair pursuit"
And through the same chain from Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: "Then a fair pursuit" - he says: The claimant must pursue the matter with fairness if he accepts the blood money.
It was reported from Jabir ibn Zayd, al-Hasan, Qatadah, al-Rabi' ibn Anas, al-Suddi, and 'Ata' al-Khurasani similarly.
1582 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Yahya ibn 'Abd Allah ibn Bukayr narrated to us, Ibn Lahi'ah narrated to me, 'Ata' ibn Dinar narrated to me, from Sa'id ibn Jubayr regarding His saying: "Then a fair pursuit" - meaning: the guardian of the murdered person should pursue it with gentleness.
It was reported from Muqatil ibn Hayyan, he said: He should make his request with kindness.
His saying: "And payment to him with good conduct"
1583 - Abu Zur'ah narrated to us, Minjab ibn al-Harith narrated to us, Bishr informed us, from Abu Rawq, from al-Dahhak, from Ibn 'Abbas regarding His saying: "And payment to him with good conduct" - from the killer without urgency and without ma'k, meaning: delaying.

١٥٨١ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زُرْعَةَ، ثنا مِنْجَابُ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ، أَنْبَأَ بِشْرُ بْنُ عُمَارَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي رَوْقٍ، عَنِ الضَّحَّاكِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ: فِي قَوْلِهِ: فَمَنْ عُفِيَ لَهُ يَقُولُ: مَنْ تُرِكَ لَهُ مِنْ أَخِيهِ شَيْءٌ [أَيْ] «١» أَخَذَ الدِّيَةَ بَعْدَ اسْتِحْقَاقِ الدَّمِ وَذَلِكَ: الْعَفْوُ.
قوله: فَاتِّبَاعٌ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ
وَبِهِ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ فِي قَوْلِهِ: فَاتِّبَاعٌ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ يَقُولُ: فَعَلَى الطَّالِبِ اتِّبَاعٌ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ إِذَا قَبِلَ الدِّيَةَ.
وَرُوِيَ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ وَالْحَسَنِ وَقَتَادَةَ وَالرَّبِيعِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ وَالسُّدِّيِّ وَعَطَاءٍ الْخُرَاسَانِيِّ.
١٥٨٢ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زُرْعَةَ، ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ بُكَيْرٍ، حَدَّثَنِي ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ، حَدَّثَنِي عَطَاءُ بْنُ دِينَارٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنُ جُبَيْرٍ فِي قَوْلِهِ: فَاتِّبَاعٌ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ يَعْنِي لِيَطْلُبْ وَلِيُّ الْمَقْتُولِ فِي الرِّفْقِ.
وَرُوِيَ عَنْ مُقَاتِلِ بْنِ حَيَّانَ، قَالَ: لِيُحْسِنِ الطَّلَبَ.

وَرُوِيَ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ وَسَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ وَقَتَادَةَ وَالرَّبِيعِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ وَعَطَاءٍ الْخُرَاسَانِيِّ وَمُقَاتِلِ بن حيان، نحو ذلك.
