His saying: "So let them respond to Me"
1669 - Al-Hasan ibn ‘Arafah narrated to us, al-Nadr ibn Isma‘il narrated to us, from Abu Raja’, from Anas ibn Malik regarding the saying of Allah: "So let them respond to Me," he said: "Let them call upon Me."
1670 - Al-Husayn ibn al-Hasan narrated to us, Ibrahim ibn ‘Abd Allah al-Harawi narrated to us, Hajjaj reported to us, from Ibn Jurayj, from Mujahid: "So let them respond to Me," [meaning] let them obey Me. Al-Istijabah (responding) is obedience. It was narrated from al-Rabi‘ ibn Anas and Ibn Jurayj something similar to the statement of Mujahid.
His saying: "And let them believe in Me"
1671 - Al-Hasan ibn ‘Arafah narrated to us, al-Nadr ibn Isma‘il narrated to us, from Abu Raja’, from Anas ibn Malik, regarding the saying of Allah: "And let them believe in Me," [meaning] that if they call upon Me, I will respond to them.
His saying: "Perhaps they will be guided"
1672 - ‘Isam ibn Rawwad narrated to us, Adam narrated to us, from Abu Ja‘far, from al-Rabi‘, from Abu al-‘Aliyah: "Perhaps they will be guided," meaning: they will be rightly guided.
His saying: "It has been made permissible for you the night preceding fasting to go to your wives"
1673 - Ahmad ibn Sinan narrated to us, Yazid ibn Harun narrated to us, al-Mas‘udi reported to us, from ‘Amr ibn Murrah, from ‘Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Layla, from Mu‘adh ibn Jabal, who said: Fasting passed through three states. They used to eat, drink, and approach women as long as they did not sleep. If they slept, they refrained from that. Then ‘Umar ibn al-Khattab came, having had intercourse with a wife of his after he had slept, so he mentioned that to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, and Allah the Exalted revealed: "It has been made permissible for you the night preceding fasting to go to your wives."
His saying the Exalted: "Go to your wives (al-rafath)"
1674 - My father narrated to us, Abu Nu‘aym narrated to us, Abu al-Ahwas narrated to us, from Abu Ishaq, from Sa‘id ibn Jubayr, from Ibn ‘Abbas, who said: Al-rafath: is sexual intercourse.
It was narrated from ‘Ata’, Mujahid, Sa‘id ibn Jubayr, Tawus, al-Hasan, al-Dahhak, Ibrahim al-Nakha‘i, Salim ibn ‘Abd Allah, al-Suddi, ‘Amr ibn Dinar, Qatadah, al-Zuhri, Muqatil ibn Hayyan, and ‘Ata’ al-Khurasani something similar to that.

١٦٦٩ - حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَرَفَةَ، ثنا النَّضْرُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ، عَنْ أَبِي رَجَاءٍ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ فِي قَوْلِ اللَّهِ: فَلْيَسْتَجِيبُوا لِي قَالَ: لِيَدْعُونِي
١٦٧٠ - حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ، ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْهَرَوِيُّ، أَنْبَأَ حَجَّاجٌ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ فَلْيَسْتَجِيبُوا لِي فَلْيُطِيعُونِي. الاسْتِجَابَةُ: الطَّاعَةُ وَرُوِيَ، عَنِ الرَّبِيعِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ وَابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ، نَحْوُ قَوْلِ مُجَاهِدٍ.
قَوْلُهُ: وَلْيُؤْمِنُوا بِي

قَوْلُهُ: لَعَلَّهُمْ يَرْشُدُونَ
١٦٧٢ - حَدَّثَنَا عِصَامُ بْنُ رَوَّادٍ، ثنا آدَمُ، عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ، عَنِ الرَّبِيعِ، عَنْ أَبِي الْعَالِيَةِ لعلهم يرشدون يَعْنِي: يَهْتَدُونَ.
قَوْلُهُ: أُحِلَّ لَكُمْ لَيْلَةَ الصِّيَامِ الرَّفَثُ إِلَى نِسَائِكُمْ
١٦٧٣ - حَدَّثَنَا: أَحْمَدُ بْنُ سِنَانٍ، ثنا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ، أنا المسعودي، عن عمرو ابن مُرَّةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى، عَنْ مُعَاذِ بْنِ جَبَلٍ، قَالَ أُحِيلَ الصِّيَامُ عَلَى ثَلاثَةِ أَحْوَالٍ، كَانُوا يَأْكُلُونَ وَيَشْرَبُونَ وَيَأْتُونَ النِّسَاءَ مَا لَمْ يَنَامُوا، فَإِذَا نَامُوا امْتَنَعُوا مِنْ ذَلِكَ، فَجَاءَ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ وَقَدْ أَصَابَ امْرَأَةً لَهُ بَعْدَ مَا نَامَ، فَذَكَرَ ذَلِكَ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى: أُحِلَّ لَكُمْ لَيْلَةَ الصِّيَامِ الرَّفَثُ إِلَى نِسَائِكُمْ
قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: الرَّفَثُ إِلَى نِسَائِكُمْ
١٦٧٤ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، ثنا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ، ثنا أَبُو الأَحْوَصِ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ ابن جُبَيْرٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ: الرَّفَثُ: الْجِمَاعُ.
وَرُوِيَ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ وَمُجَاهِدٍ «١» وَسَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ وَطَاوُسٍ وَالْحَسَنِ وَالضَّحَّاكِ وَإِبْرَاهِيمَ النَّخْعِيِّ وَسَالِمِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ وَالسُّدِّيِّ وَعَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ وَقَتَادَةَ وَالزُّهْرِيِّ ومقاتل ابن حيان وعطاء الخراساني، نحو ذلك.
