His saying: "[in order] that you might consume a portion of the wealth of the people in sin."

1705 - Abu Zur‘ah narrated to us, Yahya ibn ‘Abd Allah narrated to us, Ibn Lahi‘ah narrated to me, ‘Ata’ ibn Dinar narrated to me, from Sa‘id ibn Jubayr, regarding the saying of Allah: "That you might consume a portion" meaning: a group, "of the wealth of the people in sin."

His saying: "And you know [it]."

And through the same chain, from Sa‘id, regarding His saying: "And you know [it]," meaning: you know that you are claiming what is false.

His saying: "They ask you about the new moons."

1706 - My father narrated to us, Hisham ibn ‘Ubayd Allah and Musaddad narrated to us, both said: Muhammad ibn Jabir narrated to us, from Qays ibn Talq, from his father, Talq ibn ‘Ali, who said: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said: "Allah has made the new moons as markers [of time]."

His saying: "They are markers [of time] for the people."

1707 - Muhammad ibn Sa‘d al-‘Awfi reported to us in what he wrote to me, my father narrated to us, my uncle al-Husayn narrated to us, from his father, from his grandfather, from Ibn ‘Abbas, who said: The people asked the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) about the new moons, so this verse was revealed: "They ask you about the new moons. Say: They are markers [of time] for the people," by which they know the time of their religious obligations, the waiting period of their women, and the time for their pilgrimage.

1708 - ‘Isam ibn Rawwad narrated to us, Adam narrated to us, from Abu Ja‘far, from al-Rabi‘, from Abu al-‘Aliyah, who said: It reached us that they said: "O Messenger of Allah, why were the new moons created?" So Allah revealed: "They ask you about the new moons. Say: They are markers [of time] for the people." He says: Allah made them markers [of time] for the fasting of the Muslims and their breaking of the fast, the waiting period of their women, and the timing of their religious affairs. It was reported from ‘Ata’, al-Dahhak, Qatadah, al-Suddi, and al-Rabi‘ ibn Anas similarly to that.

His saying: "And [for] the pilgrimage."

And through the same chain, from Abu al-‘Aliyah: "Say: They are markers [of time] for the people and for the pilgrimage." He says: Markers [of time] for their pilgrimage and their rites. It was reported from al-Dahhak, Qatadah, al-Suddi, and al-Rabi‘ ibn Anas similarly to that.

قَوْلُهُ: لِتَأْكُلُوا فَرِيقًا مِنْ أَمْوَالِ النَّاسِ بِالإِثْمِ

١٧٠٥ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زُرْعَةَ، ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، حَدَّثَنِي ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ، حَدَّثَنِي عَطَاءُ ابْنُ دِينَارٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ، فِي قَوْلِ اللَّهِ: لِتَأْكُلُوا فَرِيقًا يَعْنِي: طَائِفَةً مِنْ أَمْوَالِ النَّاسِ بِالإِثْمِ.

قَوْلُهُ: وَأَنْتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ

وَبِهِ، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ فِي قَوْلِهِ: وَأَنْتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ يَعْنِي تَعْلَمُونَ أنكم تدعون الباطل.

قوله: يسئلونك، عَنِ الأَهِلَّةِ

١٧٠٦ - حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، ثنا هِشَامُ بْنُ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ وَمُسَدَّدٌ، قَالا حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَابِرٍ، عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ طَلْقٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ طَلْقِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: جَعَلَ اللَّهُ الأَهِلَّةَ مَوَاقِيتَ.

قَوْلُهُ: هِيَ مَوَاقِيتُ لِلنَّاسِ

١٧٠٧ - أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ الْعَوْفِيُّ فِيمَا كَتَبَ إِلَيَّ، ثنا أَبِي، ثنا عَمِّي الْحُسَيْنُ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ: سَأَلَ النَّاسُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، عَنْ الأهلة، فنزلت هذه الآية يسئلونك، عَنِ الأَهِلَّةِ قُلْ هِيَ مَوَاقِيتُ لِلنَّاسِ يَعْلَمُونَ بِهَا حِلَّ دِينِهِمْ، وَعِدَّةَ نِسَائِهِمْ، وَوَقْتَ حجهم.

١٧٠٨ - حَدَّثَنَا عِصَامُ بْنُ رَوَّادٍ، ثنا آدَمُ، عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ، عَنِ الرَّبِيعِ، عَنْ أَبِي الْعَالِيَةِ، قَالَ: بَلَغَنَا أَنَّهُمْ قَالُوا: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ: لم خلقت الأهلة؟ فأنزل الله:

يسئلونك، عَنِ الأَهِلَّةِ قُلْ هِيَ مَوَاقِيتُ لِلنَّاسِ يَقُولُ: جَعَلَهَا اللَّهُ مَوَاقِيتَ لِصَوْمِ الْمُسْلِمِينَ وَإِفْطَارِهِمْ وَعِدَّةَ نِسَائِهِمْ وَمَحَلِّ دِينِهِمْ وَرُوِيَ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ وَالضَّحَّاكِ وَقَتَادَةِ «١» وَالسُّدِّيِّ وَالرَّبِيعِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ، نَحْوُ ذَلِكَ.

قَوْلُهُ: وَالْحَجِّ

وَبِهِ، عَنْ أَبِي الْعَالِيَةِ: قُلْ هِيَ مَوَاقِيتُ لِلنَّاسِ وَالْحَجِّ يَقُولُ: مَوَاقِيتُ لِحَجِّهِمْ وَمَنَاسِكِهِمْ وَرُوِيَ، عَنِ الضَّحَّاكِ وَقَتَادَةَ وَالسُّدِّيِّ وَالرَّبِيعِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ، نَحْوُ ذَلِكَ.
